According to Ayurvedic system of medicine, there needs to be a balance between basic body constitutions called Vata, Pitta and Kapha.
• Vata is an airy condition of dryness. Pain is the key feature of this element. Diseases due to vata are flatulence, gout, rheumatism, etc.
• Pitta is the fiery element whose key quality is heat. Body parts affected by this are spleen, heart, eyes, and skin.
• Kapha is the watery element characterized by cold. It affects one or all the soft organs of the body.
Astrologically, one can try to recognize the possible diseases one can be prone to as well as their severity and possible timing when it could reveal. Normally, the 6th house, its lord, planets associated therein and the aspects to it are considered relevant.
A strong lagna or ascendant (rising sign at birth) can mitigate the severity of ill-health or sickness to a great extent. Of course, the operating dasa (planetary period) too needs to be examined with reference and relation to the 6th house occupier(s), lord, aspects etc.
