Jupiter is a functional benefic for Aries, Cancer and Scorpio; a functional malefic for Taurus, Gemini, Virgo, Libra, Capricorn and Aquarius; for the rest i.e., Leo, Sagittarius and Pisces, it is neutral. This approach can be extended to Chandra Lagna (Moon Sign) too.
Jupiter entered into Virgo on 11th August 2016 as per Lahiri Ayanamsa. Virgo is just opposite Pisces, a sign owned by Jupiter. Virgo is ruled by Mercury which was in Leo along with Venus and Rahu during Jupiter’s transit in Virgo. Leo is 12th from Virgo. Also, Virgo is Jupiter’s enemy’s house. All these make the situation complicated. This is particularly so for professionals whose Ascendant or Janma Rashi (Moon Sign) happens to Virgo since the 10th lord (Gemini) is ruled by Mercury. Fortunately, Leo is a friendly sign for Mercury though not so for Venus and Rahu. Venus, for Virgo Ascendant / Janma Rashi, has dual lordship of the 2nd (Libra) and the 9th (Taurus) houses representing income and long journeys respectively among other things.
Without going into complicated analysis, there is a simple method to predict the general financial status of a native based on the ascertaining of ‘moorti’.
‘Moorti’ means any solid object or statue. There are four ‘mootis’: Gold, Silver, Copper and Iron which respectively stand for Highly Favourable, Favourable, Average and Highly Unfavourable.
‘Moorti’ is to be determined for any planet when it enters into a new sign by noting the house position of Moon at that time relative to one’s Janma Rashi (Moon Sign at the birth time).
From Natal Moon:
Transit Moon in 1st, 6th or 11th – Swarna (Golden) Moorti
Transit Moon in 2nd, 5th or 9th – Rajata (Silver) Moorti
Transit Moon in 3rd, 7th or 10th – Tamra (Copper) Moorti
Transit Moon in 4th, 8th or 12th – Loha (Iron) Moorti
Moon was in Scorpio when Jupiter entered into Virgo on 11th August 2016. Hence, for the various Janma Rashis, the general results would be –
Scorpio, Gemini & Capricorn: Golden – Highly Favourable
Libra, Cancer & Pisces: Silver – Favourable
Virgo, Taurus & Aquarius: Copper – Average
Leo, Aries & Sagittarius: Iron – Highly Unfavourable
The above results hold good till 12th September 2017 when Jupiter's transit into Libra begins. Because of Jupiter’s 9th house aspect, Taurus may do better than average.
Needless to add, the ruling dasa or sub-dasa, if favourable or otherwise, will affect these results for the better or for the worse.
